 What is the NET Bible?
The New English Translation, also known as the NET Bible, is a completely new translation of the Bible, not a revision or an update of a previous English version. What is included here is the HTML Version with 60,932 translators� notes.
It was completed by more than twenty biblical scholars who worked directly from the best currently available Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek texts. Most of these scholars teach Old or New Testament exegesis in seminaries and graduate schools. Furthermore, the translator assigned to prepare the first draft of the translation and notes for each book of the Bible was chosen in every instance because of his or her work in that particular book�consisting not only of teaching but of writing and research as well, often extending over several decades. Many of the translators and editors have participated in other translation projects as well. They have been assisted by doctoral students and advised by style consultants and SIL field translators. Here are clips from two of the finest "Jesus" films that I have yet seen. At the right is "Jesus of Nazareth", which I applaud for its excellent lifelike, three dimensional portrayal of the characters, especially Peter and Jesus. At the left is a rather offbeat retelling according to the Gospel of Matthew. However, it is one of the most loving, joyous, upbeat, and enlivening portrayals of the Gospel that I ever saw. I viewed it 3 or 4 times in a row when Jesus was first opening up my heart some 35 years ago. I love it just as much today! If you watch it, don't do so as a legalistic, nit-picking Pharisee. Drink in the love, joy, and exuberance of the characters and of the movie itself. |

The musical production of Les Miserables is, in my opinion, one of the finest dramatic music presentations that I have ever seen. It deserves all of the praise, accolades, and ovations that it can receive !! There is also a dramatic production that I recommend. While it is in NO way a Christian production, yet I found the portrayal of a maniacal, Phariseeical self righteous portrayed better in the character of Javert than in ANY "religious" production. He carries it so far that, when confronted with the need to deviate from his legalistic obsession, and perhaps revaluate his view about Jean Valjean and even be grateful to him, he finds it so impossible and repulsive that instead he takes his own life. |

The "Mystery" of the New Creation ! --There is a "Mystery" (Secret) that the "church-at-large" has hidden from and deprived Christians the knowledge of almost since its inception !!!
This "Mystery" was fundamental to the teaching of Jesus Christ Himself and His early apostles. It was the core teaching of the Apostle Paul. Many of the early Christian Mystics and mystical teachers knew and taught it, especially William Law and Jacob Boehme of the 1600-1700 era.
It is the foundation stone of TRUE Christian experience, the root source or "modus operandi" of Christian salvation and sanctification, and the ONLY basis or foundation of Christian life. Without the reality of it operable in a life, one can NOT indeed even BE a "Christian" in the Biblical sense !!!
Despite the ABSOLUTE NECESSITY of this "Secret" - it is actively known, understood and practiced by a mere handful of the professing worldwide "christian" community. Even fewer could INTELLIGENTLY discuss, explain or teach it to others.
The majority of those that ARE in ANY sense familiar with this "Secret" DO NOT understand its origin, foundation, and inner-workings. They know little more than "proof-text" scripture verses, religious jargon and "catch-words" to describe what little they DO know !! They are like the average computer user who knows how to turn the machine on, push a few buttons, and use the mouse and keyboard. They, however, know ABSOLUTELY nothing about HOW or WHY the computer performs its various functions. To them, it is "MAGIC" !

The Collected Works of Andrew Jukes -- Andrew Jukes was a Clergyman and Writer of the 19th century. He lived from 1815-1901 in England. He is noted for his writings on Universal Reconciliation or Universal Salvation. The author, who wrote FOUR VIEWS OF CHRIST and THE LAW OF THE OFFERINGS, also penned THE RESTITUTION OF ALL THINGS, which originally took form as an extensive letter to a friend in the 1860s. This reprint brings the reader into an aspect of the author�s later ministry which may surprise some. In it he examines the Scriptures regarding the destiny of the human race.
The Collected Works of John Wesley Hanson --
John Wesley Hanson (1823�1901), born at Boston, was an American Universalist minister and a notable Universalist historian, advancing the claim that Universalism was the belief of early Christianity. In 1845 he arrived in Wentworth, New Hampshire as a Universalist minister. In the 1870s he went as a Universalist missionary to Britain, becoming the pastor of St. Paul's Universalist Church, Glasgow, Scotland. He then became minister of the Universalist New Covenant Church of Chicago, where he worked on his New Testament. He is best known for his history arguing that Universalism dominated early church thought before Augustine, "Universalism: The Prevailing Doctrine of the Christian Church" (1899), which followed Universalist Hosea Ballou's "Ancient History of Universalism" (1828).

Watchman Nee was a native of a province in Southern China. As a young man he proved himself to be a very intelligent and promising individual. He was consistently the top student in his classes, achieving an excellent academic record. He, of course, had many youthful dreams and plans for a successful career. Nevertheless, in 1920, at the age of seventeen, he came under the hearing of the gospel and after some struggle, received Christ as his Savior and Lord. Since then, the ministry of Watchman Nee has been one of the most significant and spiritual to emerge during this century. His labors had a profound effect upon the spreading of the gospel and the establishing of hundreds of local churches throughout Asia, while his many books and spoken messages have become a rich supply to believers throughout the world. Because of his faith, Nee was imprisoned in 1952 and remained so for the last twenty years of his life.
Wholly for God, Excerpts from William Law, edited by Andrew Murray -- A few words, first of all, to let my reader know what has given rise to the publication of this volume. Last winter, Dr. Whyte of Edinburgh gave a lecture on William Law, in which he directed attention to the treasures to be found in the writings of this almost forgotten, though, as he styles him, " quite incomparable author." With many others, I owe Dr. Whyte a debt of gratitude for this introduction to one of the most powerful and suggestive writers on the Christian life it has been my privilege to become acquainted with. The present volume is a proof of my high appreciation of his teaching, and my desire to let others share with me in the profit to be derived from it.
The Collected Works of William Law -- Sidney Spencer said, "William Law holds an outstanding position among Protestant and English mystics. He was influenced by many other mystics -- He was familiar with the work of most noteworthy Christian mystics from the pseudo-Dionysius in the fifth century to Mme. Guyon in the seventeenth. "His encounter with the works of Jacob Boehme opened in him new heights of inspiration. "In his literary career, there is a blank of nine years -- between 'An Appeal to all that Doubt the Truths of the Gospel' (1740) and the first part of the 'Spirit of Prayer' (1749). It seems to have been during this period that Law undertook the systematic study of Boehme. Law's mysticism is essentially related to his understanding of religion as an inward principle, grounded in the deeper nature of the soul. The inmost centre of our being is for him, 'the spark of the soul', which is divine, and which moves us, therefore, to seek after union with God.
The Collected Works of Jacob Boehme -- Jacob Boehme, "chosen servant of God," was born in Alt Seidenburg, Germany, in 1575. John Wesley, in his day, required all of his preachers to study the writings of Jacob Boehme; and the learned theologian, Willam Law, said of him: "Jacob Boehme was not a messenger of anything new in religion, but the mystery of all that was old and true in religion and nature, was opened up to him," � "the depth of the riches, both of the wisdom and knowledge of God." At the age of twenty-five, Boehme was given another great illumination, in which the Lord let him see farther into "the heart of things, . . . the true nature of God and man, and the relationship existing between them." Ten years later "the divine order of nature" was opened up to him, and he was inspired to write what the Lord had revealed to him. This eBook contains the much sought after manuscripts, "The Clavis or 'Key' to Jacob Boehme and Aurora".

The Collected Works of Flavius Josephus -- Josephus was a priest, a soldier, and a scholar. He was born Joseph ben Mattathias in Jerusalem in 37 CE, a few years after the time of Jesus, during the time of the Roman occupation of the Jewish homeland. In his early twenties he was sent to Rome to negotiate the release of several priests held hostage by Emperor Nero. When he returned home after completing his mission he found the nation beginning a revolution against the Romans. He died circa 100 CE.
